How to play Tango

Tango is a logic puzzle on a six by six grid. Every square holds either a sun or a moon, and three short rules decide where each one goes:

Tap a cell to cycle it through sun, moon and empty. Use the arrow keys to move around and Backspace to clear a cell. Undo steps back one move at a time, and the starting cells are fixed so you cannot change them.

Tips for beginners

Where Tango comes from

Tango is a binary puzzle: every square holds one of two symbols, and a few rules about balance decide which.

  1. 2009 Binairo Belgian puzzle makers Peter De Schepper and Frank Coussement create Binairo, a grid to fill with 0s and 1s.
  2. Same era Tohu wa Vohu Italian puzzle maker Adolfo Zanellati invents a near twin. The family is also sold as Takuzu and Binero.
  3. Today Tango Suns and moons instead of digits, with equals and cross signs between squares as extra clues.

Did you know? Two puzzle makers in two countries arrived at almost the same puzzle at almost the same time, which is why this family goes by so many names.

Is this the same as LinkedIn's puzzle?

No. This is our own Tango, in the same suns and moons style. Every board is generated here and checked to have exactly one solution, so the answers will not match any official daily answer. It is free, needs no account, and your streak is saved in your own browser.
